This is Proxart. They want to see innovative artists in and from the suburbs get the recognition they deserve. They started in December of 2007 with an open-mic/art-show in Santa Clarita, CA, and found that other people felt the same way we do. That’s when they realized that they needed to keep going. Proxart wants to show off art and profile the artists that often go unnoticed in suburbia because they’re not “safe” enough. They want to critique suburban culture, offer their thoughts on art, and help plug people in to local communities that share their values.

To do this they post what inspires them and interview artists on Proxart.org; we put on events in local suburbs using local suburban artists and/or bringing in the best art from the city; and they produce Proxart Magazine as a quarterly publication that is available for free download from their site. Join the conversation!
